Today’s centenary of the sinking of the Lusitania was marked by a minute’s silence during a memorial service in Liverpool. This once famous ship and one of the largest in the world at the time, was torpedoed by a German submarine on 7 May 1915 during WWI, killing about 1200 people traveling from New York.
