Michael Morpurgo’s novel, Running Wild, was inspired by a small newspaper article 12 years ago and now the author is set to be reunited with the little girl featured in it.
Following an interview with the author, The Telegraph managed to track down the young girl, Amber Owen, who is now 20. Ms Owen was saved from the tsunami as she rode on the back of an elephant whilst on holiday.
Michael Morpurgo personally invited Amber and her family to watch the incredible Open Air Theatre production of Running Wild in Regent’s Park, as seen here.
