This October, master storyteller Michael Morpurgo and esteemed illustrator Michael Foreman read aloud from The Fox and the Ghost King and share the story of how their new children’s book came to be. And where better to tell the tale of Leicester City Football Club’s historic Premier League win than the inspiring Leicester Cathedral itself?
There was only one place where Michael could tell this tale, in Leicester Cathedral next to the tomb of King Richard III.
– Juliet Martin, Everybody’s Reading Festival
Featuring an urban fox who likes to hang around the car park where King Richard III was buried, Morpurgo’s fable tells of how Fox asks the Ghost King to help Leicester win against Chelsea.
Every fox in the whole town, in the whole country just about, is a football fan… And we all have an impossible dream.
The Ghost King promises to not only grant Fox’s wish, but to help Leicester win the league… in exchange for Fox leading archaeologists to the place he was buried so that he can rest in peace.
